Although we did "homeschool", we spent most of the first two weeks just getting set up and organized. We could not afford to join a Church or other fee-based homeschool organization so we called K12 (they are free) but enrollment is closed till March. So we spent a lot of time on the Internet searching for what 5th graders are supposed to be learning. I (mom) found actual 5th grade textbooks at Amazon.com and bought them at really great bargain prices. I also bought Common Core State Standard-aligned workbooks, lots of educational posters and school supplies from The Dollar Tree and a few things from Walmart. So far, we've got all our books except two. We should get them today or by Monday. We've been using whatever we can find at thrift stores so it's going to be a lot easier when we have all of our textbooks. Yesterday, as soon as I said "I hope we get your science book today", the mail lady opened our storm door and put the package in. She's nice and always smiles and waves. Samuel said it was like Christmas when he was opening up the packages.
